As I think about Christmas this year, it is bittersweet. While I know how blessed we are to have our family together and healthy, I am painfully aware of the many who do not, of those who are jobless, homeless, grieving and struggling this season. As I was asking God what He wanted me to write this Christmas season, who He wanted me to write to, He kept bringing to mind the prophetic promises of Jesus throughout the Bible. What better way to rediscover the joy of the Savior's birth? The knowledge of the truth of Jesus, our Savior, creates joy and peace. Something we all need plenty of this year.
I began my research on how many prophecies there might be throughout the Bible. Much to my surprise, there are over 40 prophecies about Jesus' first and second coming. After a lot of reading and comparing, my own faith grew reading through the prophecies and the confirmations. It amazes me how so many different prophecies have been spoken/written over so many years and by so many people. My prayer is that this list will strengthen your faith, give you a renewed joy, and help you in sharing Jesus with others. 1 Samuel 2:20, God will raise up a faithful priest. Psalm 9:7-8, God established His throne for judgment and He will judge the world in righteousness. Psalm 89, I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn to David My servant, I will establish your seed forever and build up your throne to all generations. Psalm 110, The Lord says to my Lord: Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet. Psalm 146, Who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; The Lord raises up those who are bowed down. The Lord loves the righteous; The Lord protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow. Isaiah 7:14, Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. Isaiah 9:2, 4, 6-7 , The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; for You shall break the yoke of their burden and the staff on their shoulders; the rod of their oppressor; for a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 25:8, He will swallow up death for all time, and the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces, and He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth." Isaiah 42:1-4, 6-7, Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold, My chosen one in whom My soul delights. I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the nations. He will not cry out or raise His voice nor make His voice heard in the street. A bruised reed He will not break and a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice. He will not be disheartened or crushed until He has established justice in the earth, and the coastlands will wait expectantly for His law. Isaiah 53, He was despised and forsaken, He was acquainted with grief, He was despised and was not esteemed. He was pierced for our transgressions, by oppression and judgment He was taken away; and as for His generation, who considered He was cut off out of the land of the living, His grave was assigned with wicked men, yet He was a rich man in His death because He had committed no violence or deceit.
