Our volunteer advocacy team is made up of volunteers with a variety of backgrounds, including several with both direct and indirect service experience. Each have a commitment and dedication to supporting victims of violent crime.
Value Unconditional provides training to those who wish to be on the crisis response team. The advocacy training includes 10-hours of in-person work, take-home assignments, and several hours of shadowing opportunities to ensure everyone feels confident and equipped in their role.

In order to be considered as an advocate, volunteers must
- Be 18 years or older
- Pass a background check
- Have reliable transportation and automobile insurance
- Successfully complete all training and paperwork
- Exhibit thorough comprehension / application of advocacy training
- Have an unwavering commitment to honoring rules and boundaries
- Commit to serving no less than 1 year on the VU Advocacy Team
- Be comfortable working in collaboration with law enforcement and medical professionals
- Have strong communication skills
- Demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence
